Multicentric biliary cystadenomas in two senile lion siblings from the Zoo "Hellbrunn", Salzburg
1998  Conference Proceeding

Two lions (Panthera leo), littermates, born in the Zoo "Hellbrunn" in Salzburg, were euthanatized at the age of 20 and 22 years respectively. One of the animals showed signs of liver-failure a few days before death. Post mortem examination revealed polycystic lesions up to a childs head size in both livers and were diagnosed as biliary cystadenomas by histopathology. The findings are discussed in the light of literature relevant to the subject.
