In an on-going study at Zoo Salzburg, six felid species were vaccinated with PurevaxTM Ferret Distemper Vaccine. For primary vaccination, 1 ml of reconstituted lyophilized vaccine was given i.m. three times at three-week intervals. Revaccination by a single 1 ml dose is required annually. Blood samples, drawn within the frame of a routine health examination, before the first, the third and six months after the third vaccination were screened for CDV antibody titres by an immunofluorescence assay adapted to felid serum. |
