Vergleichende Betrachtung der Streifgr”ssen und Wanderdistanzen zweier adulter Luchsm„nnchen im Harz
2011  Beitr„ge zur Jagd- und Wildforschung (36): 319-328

Two adult male lynx were collared and monitored for an extensive telemetry study in the Harz region, Germany. The male lynx M1 was followed over 14 month, the other individual, M3, provided data over a time span of 10 month. M3 covered a relatively large home range of 314 km2 (MCP 100%), yet lying within the scope of other European studies. This lynx moved an average of 2.223 meter between two consecutive daily locations. The male lynx M1 however, used a considerably larger territory of 1.517 km2 (MCP 100%). Also is average movement distance of 3.750 meter between locations of consecutive days was higher than the calculated values for M3. Over the first half of the monitoring phase M1 stayed predominantly in the South Eastern part of the Harz. Later is range started to shift into the North. The lynx rapidly switched between two ranges various times. Movement pattern and behaviour of this lynx seems to be exceptional, also in comparison with other European studies. Possible explanations could be the lack of females in the Southern territory or the competition with other males as well as missing territorial behaviour of the lynx M1.
