North American Regional Sumatran Tiger Studbook
2010  Full Book

This studbook database includes all tigers recorded in North American facilities with lineages traceable back to wild-caught Sumatran tigers. This consists of tigers imported into and/or living in the U.S. and Canada from 1939 through 15 June 2010. The last imports into North America took place in 1989. Privately owned tigers with unknown or unverified pedigrees are not included either in this regional studbook or in the international studbook. There is no record of verifiable Sumatran tigers in North America outside of zoological institutions. This database was initially taken from the regional Sumatran tiger studbook developed by Gerald Brady through Potter Park Zoo, Lansing, MI through June 2004. Data for that studbook were taken from the International Tiger Studbook and/or collected from the holding institutions. Subsequent data cleanup, revision and updates have led to the production of the current database.
