The Dynamics of Serengeti Research

In the last ten years an enormous resurgence of research has occurred in Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, with the result that this ecosystem is one of the best understood in the world. In any reserach community, however, there is a danger of individuals and teams working in isolation, rarely finding time to integrate their work with that of others. At a recent meeting in Serengeti itself, an attempt was made to integrate findings of a great variety of research projects by incorporating them into an ambitious model of how the ecosystem works.
