Observations of snow leopard activity in the Alma-Ata Zoo
1990  Book Chapter

Thirteen day-time observations of a total duration of 25.93 hours were performed. In the course of data processing three predominant types of snow leopard behaviour were distinguished: comfort (48%), exploratory (18%), walking (14%). The observed snow leopards showed pronounced individual temperaments. The time budget of the snow leopard male "Djingiz" which was wild caught, was found to be close to the average time budget. Social contacts, cool weather, live food, and zoo attendants have stimulating effect on snow leopard activity.
