Wildkatze (wildcat)
  Pamphlet

Wildcats are solitary animals and have distribution ranges with fixed boarders. To the end of the winter the reproduction takes place and in April or May 2 to 5, seldom 7, cubs are born. Wildcats are specialized rodent hunters. Depending on the habitat also other species can be important in their diet. Naturally, wildcats have only few threats. It is known that lynx sometimes kill wildcat but the main threat are humans. In Switzerland it was historically distributed in the Jura mountains, the Plateau and the lower boarder of the northern Alps. After high reductions in numbers, wildcats are recovering slowly since the 1970.
