The wildcat (_Felis silvestris_) in Austria - I. Action plan for the conservation of the European wildcat in Austria (Die Wildkatze (_Felis silvestris_) in Oesterreich - I. Aktionsplan zum Schutz der Europ„ischen Wildkatze in Oesterreich)
2012  Mitteilungen aus dem Haus der Natur (20): 57-68

The action plan presented here assembles the available knowledge about the European wildcat (Felis silvestris) in Austria. It includes information on species biology, recent distribution, protection and threats. These explanations are supplemented by a description of the historical and actual distribution in Austria (Friembichler et al. 2012), an assessment of habitat (Friembichler et al. in prep.) and population development (Slotta-Bachmayr et al. 2012a), as well as a concept for supplementing the wildcat population (Slotta-Bachmayr 2012b). Goals and actions for the conservation of the species, including surveying and monitoring, communication, habitat improvement and supplementation are defined and prioritised. All these actions should be implemented within the next 10 years to guarantee a stable and self-sustaining wildcat population in Austria.
