Sebaran populasi dan seleksi habitat macan tutul jawa, _Panthera pardus melas_ Cuvier 1809 di provinsi jawa tengah
2012  Jurnal Penelitian Hutan dan Konservasi Alam (9): 323-339

Distribution of javan leopard population in Central Java has not been monitored in the last two decades. Since the deforestation rate in this province is quietly high, the distribution of javan leopard is predicted decrease and some population extinct locally. The objective of this research was to investigate the distribution and habitat selection of javan leopard in Central Java Province. Data of leopard distribution was collected through questionair, interview and ground check to record the geographic position of the leopard. GPS's points of leopard distribution were plotted on forest area map. Index of habitat selection was calculated using Neu's Index formula. The research showed 48 locations of javan leopards that distributed in five forest types i.e. pines plantation forest (43.8%), teak plantation forest (27.1%), natural mountain forest (14.5%), mix plantation forest (8.3%), and natural lowland forest (6.3%). Javan leopard distributed from 0 m up to more than 1,000 m above sea level. There were 15 locations of javan leopards that have extinc locally. Javan leopard selected their habitat (P=0.01). The highest selection index was natural lowland forest (8.5560) followed by mix plantation forest (5.8911), natural mountain forests (2.9795), pines plantation forests (1.1758), and teak plantation forests (0.4769).
